With torrential rain forecast I decided to give London and the Thames a big fat miss and headed out to Bucks instead with the kids. We were aiming for Great Missenden and the Roald Dahl Museum. since learning to read Ava is an avid book devourer ... particularly Mr Dahl's tales. The appeal of his stories is timeless and knowing how much I loved to read them as a child it really pleases me that she enjoys them so much. A run through his life, seeing where he wrote and how he was inspired awaits the visitors to the museum ... I particularly liked some wall paintings that detailed his day .... as a creature of habit every day seemed pretty much the same as another but if you can produce Charlie, the BFG, Matilda, The Twits and so many more amazing characters in that environment then it must have been a very good way to be.
