A small farmer's market with a difference ... yes, there was the delicious cake stall courtesy of my friend Cushla from The Cakette which we enjoyed probably a bit too much. But, with equal excitement to the Hundreds and Thousands cake was the chance to look through a microscope to see something little looking rather big. The main aim of this stall was to show kids how things grow, their roots, their leaves and how plants absorb lots of nutrients from the soil. This did interest both kids who have a little understanding of how plants grow, but much more exciting was putting anything under the lens to see what it looks like magnified. £10 notes were a particular favourite - a rather successful lesson in science.
