As if being six wasn't exciting enough Ava had a double dose of fun when we took her and a few friends to Somerset House on Sunday to the 'Penguin Club' for a half hour ice skating session.  Despite it being at 8:30am the parents (mainly dads!) appeared looking reasonably fresh faced with their children for the session -we'd promised coffee and croissants to whoever came!  Participating in the 'Penguin Club' ensured that only 20 kids were on the ice at once and all had access to the penguin stabilisers ... plus they got to be on the big rink.  When the rink was in full use later on in the day the little ones would not have been able to go in such a great space.

The amazing thing was that within about 20 minutes most of the kids were able to skate and not need the penguin.  Three lovely ice skating coaches were on the ice with them boosting their confidence, teaching them how to do it and scooping them up when they fell.  Jonah fell once too many times though for his liking and ended up wanting off pretty quickly!

Happy skating days then even more happiness for Ava as a bit of craft was added into the party mix back at Tom's Skate Lounge (the cafe next to the rink).

And finish off with some penguin birthday cakes ....
