The kids and I ventured to east London to try out one of the one day festivals near to home.  The Applecart Festival was a family fun fest -although could equally have been enjoyed minus kids too.  Despite rain stopping some (outdoor) play during the afternoon there was loads to do undercover to tide over the wet points of the day.  Highlights included the House of Fairytales who had created an art project around light and shadow in a magical marquee ... shadow puppetry, green screen film action, matchbox making and painting a scary (cardboard box) monsters kept wet weather blues at bay for a while

and outside this marquee - a dressing up frenzy of crazy proportions so that we could have our picture taken inside the mighty booth!

Add in meeting Peter Rabbit in the Penguin Book Tent, some Lipsynchers/Hoola Hooping/Bourgeois and Maurice cabaret, obligatory fairground rides, lovely music in the folk tent, really tasty food courtesy of Venn Street Market and some Tim Minchin laughter with the sounds of Saint Etienne filling the sky on the way home ...  a day of kid friendly but plenty of adult sanity kind of festival blended excellently together.
