Scamp goes to Suffolk August 08 2011, 0 Comments
It's the start of the school holidays and quite a number of weeks of trying to remain calm and sane alongside doing fun things with Ava and Jonah are already well under way - adding moving house into that and you might see where the calm and sane side of things comes in. Luckily for us we had a few days of the first week sorted out as we were invited up to Suffolk to stay with friends in a holiday cottage close to Aldeburgh.
I have only been to Suffolk once before - a couple of summers ago when a group of friends with kids descended upon the Latitude festival. I loved it but didn't get a huge amount of time to explore the surrounding area. This time I was determined to take the kids to see a bit more. Before we reached the cottage we stopped by Snape Maltings - firstly to have our picnic by the river Alde and feed the ducks and secondly, because I was told that there are a series of lovely independent shops there ... (I hadn't quite informed the kids of this before we arrived!). I managed to be very good and mainly window shop but couldn't resist a few bits of rice melamine picnic wear before leaving.
Before leaving we spotted a few sculptures in the vast grounds and took a wander. The kids were most taken by the Shire Horse and cart ... shire horse being one of Jonah's most favourite animals (he likes the fact they are "very, very strong" - and usually describes them whilst flexing his pecs to illustrate!)
