When Jonah was little his most favourite animal ever was a "Benbin" ... a penguin!  We would read penguin stories, play with penguin toys and on our visits to London Zoo stand looking into the penguin pool.  It was an alright space for the penguins but now, the zoo has turned the Penguin enclosure into an amazing space.  Penguin Beach opened in May after quite a few months of work being done to prepare the area.  It's a massive swimming pool with windows around two of the sides for kids (and parents!) to get a great view of the swimming birds.

The last time we visited a day at the zoo with Jonah and two of his best friends turned primarily into a day spent at Penguin Beach.  The boys loved racing up and down the side of the pool, chasing the penguins, watching Ricky the Rockhopper Penguin follow the keepers wiper (he is apparently almost more human than penguin and loves to show off!)  and then we watched the feed ... more great excitement.

As final confirmation of how much Jonah liked the Penguin Beach we decided to adopt Ricky the Rockhopper (through a great fundraising scheme at the zoo) for his Daddy for Father's Day
