Reaching the ripe old age of five is meaning Ava gets curiouser and curiouser about many things in life.  She is fascinated by things that happened in the past so my dad thought it would be good to tell her a bit about where he grew up when he was her age.  He was brought up on a beautiful country estate in South West Scotland owned by the Duke of Buccleuch.  Drumlanrig Castle sits in the heart of this land.  His father (my grampa) used to be in charge of all the tradesmen who worked there so he and his family lived in one of the estate houses as my dad grew up.  Idyllic as it looks I know  dad found rural living a bit of a trial during his teenage years but loves to visit it now.  On our most recent trip to the homeland he took us on a walk which culminated in this amazing view of the castle and the land surrounding it.
