An East End kind of a day February 07 2011, 0 Comments

Saturday mornings in our house tend to involve me and the kids doing something as their dad heads off to climb. More often than not we stay local but this weekend I fancied an East End kind of vibe so we headed firstly to Broadway Market ... home to lovely shops, stalls and foodie heaven. I had my first visit to Our Patterned Hand - lots of lovely fabrics, tweeds and trimmings - and a look around Fabrications - an independent gallery, shop and studio dedicated to contemporary textile practise and design. Lovely but obviously only quick looking around possible with a five and two year old tugging at my legs!
They were much more keen to get to Hackney City Farm (I had promised them this to buy me a little time in the market!) which is just down the road. Chickens, cows, a pretty lovable donkey, goats and HUGE pigs kept them entertained before heading into the delicious Frizzante cafe for tasty sausage sandwiches. My kind of day
